1. O Lord, responsive to Thy call,In life or death, whate’er befall.Our hopes for bliss on Thee depend,Thou art our everlasting Friend.
2. Though life be short and trials seemTo darken its protracted gleam,Though friends forsake and foes contend,Thou art our everlasting Friend.
3. Death may distract our present joy,And all our brightest hopes destroy,Yet these will in the future tendTo prove Thee still our faithful Friend.
