1. An angel came to Joseph Smith, And from the ground he took A sacred record hidden there A precious, holy book.

2. It tells of people who came here, Led by Jehovah’s hand; It tells of nations who once lived Upon this lovely land.

3. It tells about the Lamanites, About the Nephites, too; It tells about the Jaredites And prophets false and true.

4. Some day I’ll read the sacred book, And then I’ll understand Why Heav’nly Father watches all Upon this lovely land.
