1. O bright, smiling morning,
we greet thee with gladness,
Brighter because of the gloom of the night;
From sunset till dawning
the world lay in sadness,
Waiting thy coming all hearts to delight.
The dewdrops are dancing with joy at thy coming,

How blessed were the words when the mighty Creator
First gave thee existence, saying, “Let there be light!”
